I am a journalist from Nome, Alaska, currently working in Haines, Alaska for the Chilkat Valley News. I primarily focus on print stories as well as photography. I attended the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where I obtained my degree in Science and Environmental Journalism – a topic I am very drawn to. I have covered various beats including: breaking news, environmental impact stories, feature reporting.

Growing up in Nome taught me a great deal about reporting on environmental issues. I grew up in the newsroom of Alaska’s oldest newspaper, The Nome Nugget. My parents own and operate the Nugget. Seeing their coverage of climate based issues as well as covering local stories weekly showed me what kind of a reporter I wanted to be when I grew up.
When not at work, I can often be found outside, whether that is road biking in the summer or skiing or mushing in the winter.
